Home visits are conducted weekly by a skilled home visitor, with the help of a parent. Lessons are jointly planed between the parent and home visitor.

Parents choose the day- Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday.

Home visits must be done with a parent or legal guardian, not babysitters or other temporary caregivers.

Home visits, over the course of a month, will contain elements of all Head Start program components.

Group socialization includes:

a) Planned activities for both the parent and child.
b) Two Fridays a month 9 a.m.- 12:00 p.m at our center-based site in El Cajon.
c) Children can develop friendships and social skills.
d) Mini-breakfasts and lunches are provided.

Parent Education

Parent meetings are held once a month.
Workshops are planned for the parents.
Social activities are planned.

Field Trips

Field trips are an integral part of the program.
Parents are encouraged to assist on field trips.
Parents may not purchase goodies for their children, and they must eat the food supplied by the program.

Health / Illness

Sick children should be kept home on Friday socialization.
Parents will be contacted if their child becomes ill while at socialization.

*Note: Attendance is crucial, because your family only receives a visit once a week. We ask that even is your child is sick, to still keep a home visit appointment, as the parent is the primary focus.
