Head Start is a federally funded program designed to give three to five year old children and their families the experiences they need to bring about success in public schools and improve their quality of family life.

Children receive medical, dental, speech, hearing and developmental screenings. Follow-up services are provided as needed.

Parents participate in their child’s education in the following ways:

• Attending parent meetings

• Participating in monthly Parent Center Meetings

• Volunteering in the classroom

• Helping on field trips

• Making materials for the children to use

• Attending workshops provided by Head Start

• Staff help families to identify their strengths and needs, and help families set goals to meet those needs.

Head Start benefits the entire family.
